The EV must be at least two years older than the calendar year of application. For example, if you submit your rebate in 2023, your EV model year must be 2021 or older.

The vehicle must have an electric plug-in capability and charge through an external cable. 

Vehicles must also be on the California Air Resource Board (CARB) carpool sticker list.*

*Non-plug-in vehicles such as hydrogen-powered vehicles are not eligible for the Used EV Rebate.

No. CNG vehicles do not qualify for the rebate. The vehicle must have an electric plug-in capability.

Completed rebate applications must be submitted within four months of your rebate reservation date.

No, vehicles must be purchased. Leased vehicles do not qualify for this rebate.

Yes. EVs purchased from private sellers may qualify for the rebate. You will need to submit a copy of the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability Form from the DMV with your rebate application.

Yes. Participants may receive up to two used EV rebates per BWP account. Each rebate must be for a different vehicle.
No. Vehicles transferred from a family member, gifted, or won as a prize will not qualify for BWP’s Used EV rebate.
BWP will strive to mail the rebate check to you within 6 to 8 weeks of receiving a complete rebate application with all supporting documentation.
