We’re partnering with Hollywood Burbank Airport and Baker Electric to build a 2 megawatt solar system with battery storage. The project will provide enough power for about 585 homes.

Construction Started in July 2025

Construction on the RITC Solar + Battery Project officially began in July 2025, marking a major milestone in Burbank’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future. Over the coming months, crews will install more than 4,000 solar panels and an advanced battery storage system. The construction phase is anticipated to be completed by May 2026, and will begin delivering zero-carbon power to the Burbank community.

Solar energy needs space. In dense areas like Burbank, finding the optimal sun exposure for large solar installations can be a major challenge. The RITC has the space and sun exposure needed for a large solar installation, making it an ideal location for the Solar + Battery Project.
Construction began in July 2025 and is expected to be completed by May 2026.
The system is designed to generate 2 megawatts, which is enough energy to power approximately 585 homes.
Battery storage enables the solar system to store excess energy for use during peak times or when sunlight is unavailable, thereby improving reliability and efficiency.
