What to Expect
Residents may have seen Dumarc Corporation crews working near Reservoirs 4 and 5 during the construction period. The working hours were Monday-Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm, excluding city holidays.
There weren't any water service interruptions as part of this effort. Water remained available to our community while the work was being performed.
The reservoirs were refilled with water and put back into service once the reservoir stair replacements were completed.
BWP replaced the stairs at Water Reservoirs 4 and 5 as a safety improvement. The new stairs will allow crews to safely access the reservoirs for routine inspections and maintenance.
The stairs at Reservoir 4 and 5 had reached the end of their service life and were no longer considered safe for crews to use. Replacing them helps ensure the reservoirs remain safe, reliable, and accessible for BWP staff to perform routine inspections and maintenance.

No. There was no impact on water quality as a result of this work.
Yes. Water remained available for everyday use, including adequate system pressure for firefighting and wildfire response, throughout the duration of this project. BWP planned this work to ensure the water system continued to operate safely and reliably while these reservoirs were temporarily out of service.
As water was used by the community from Reservoirs 4 and 5, BWP did not refill them, so water levels could gradually lower to a safe level for construction. Once the stair replacements were completed, the reservoirs were refilled and returned to normal operation.
