Budget Billing Program
Have you ever wished that your monthly bills would remain around the same amount every month? If so, then BWP’s Budget Billing program is for you. Our Budget Billing program allows you to spread the cost of your bills over an entire year. This plan is only available to BWP customers who have at least 12 months of excellent credit with BWP and you must have a zero balance at the time of sign up. If you meet these qualifications, we can add you to the program right away.
Here’s how the program works:
- BWP will calculate the monthly average of your past 12 months of electric and water use totals to determine what your monthly Budget Billing amount will be for the next 12 months. Waste management, sewer, and other charges on the bill are excluded from this calculation and charged separately on your bill.
- After your first 12 months on the program, you will receive a new Budget Billing amount based on your actual electric and water use charges for the previous 12 months.
- For example: If your original Budget Billing amount (for electric and water use charges only) was $100 per month and your actual electric and water use charges over the year totaled an average of $110 per month, your new Budget Billing amount for electric and water use charges would be $120 for the next 12 months: $110 per month to account for your actual average use, plus $10 per month to “true up” from your previous balance.
In other words, once each year Budget Billing takes into account your average monthly electric and water costs from the previous 12 months and either adds to it or subtracts from it, providing you with a new monthly Budget Billing amount.
Remember…Waste management and sewer charges and donations to Project Share, Green Energy Champion, and any other fees or taxes are billed monthly as separate line items and they will not be included in your Budget Billing amount but will be added to your Budget Billing amount and included in your monthly TOTAL AMOUNT DUE.
Also worth noting, accounts that become delinquent while on the program will be removed from the program and if for any reason you ask to be removed from the program, you will need to pay the total amount owed on the account by the next municipal services bill due date. To stay current, all you need to do is pay the Total Amount Due each month and once you sign up you will be on your way toward budgeting your monthly utility bills with BWP’s Budget Billing program!
