Burbank Water and Power is very pleased to offer Burbank businesses an energy and water-saving program called Business Bucks. This program has been designed specifically for Burbank's smaller and mid-sized businesses.
Business Bucks has two components to it. First, BWP will send a certified resource manager to eligible facilities interested in participating in the program. The resource manager will conduct a comprehensive energy and water survey, looking at lighting, air conditioning, refrigeration, motors, water heating, water use and the building envelope. There is no cost to the business for this utility survey! A short report will be generated listing recommended efficiency retrofits. Each recommendation will include the cost to perform the retrofit, anticipated annual energy or water savings, and simple payback.
The second component of Business Bucks is even more generous. Businesses can select recommendations they would like to install and BWP's certified installers will conduct that work at the facility. BWP will pay up to $2,000 for recommended retrofits selected without one penny being paid by the business! Any cost above the $2,000 limit would be borne by the business.

Q. Who's eligible for Business Bucks?
Burbank businesses with monthly electricity costs falling in the range of about $100 to $3,000 are eligible to participate in this program. Please note that we are looking at electricity costs only and not necessarily the entire BWP bill amount which can also include water, refuse, sewage and other costs.
Q. What does Business Bucks offer me?
Working through a company called Richard Heath & Associates (RHA) BWP will send a certified energy manager to your facility. This professional will conduct a free energy survey for you, reviewing your facility's lighting, air conditioning, refrigeration, motors, water heating, water usage and building envelop. A short report will be generated for you listing recommended energy-efficient retrofits. Each recommendation will include cost to perform the retrofit, anticipated annual savings, and simple payback. But the best part of the program is what comes next. You select which, if any, recommendations you would like to conduct and RHA's certified installers will schedule that work at your facility. BWP will pay up to $2,000 for the recommended retrofits you select without one penny coming out of your pocket! Your organization would pay any cost above the $2,000 limit, although you may also be eligible to receive a BWP rebate on your out-of-pocket costs through our Energy Solutions cash rebate program. Q. This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?
There is no catch. The program is truly this good. BWP pays for the cost of the energy survey of your facility and BWP pays for the first $2,000 of retrofits you select. You pay nothing, just reap the rewards of a more efficient building and reduced energy costs. For example, let's say that your facility's energy report recommends replacing existing fluorescent light tubes with high efficiency tubes at an installed cost of $1,880. If you agree to this recommendation, RHA will install the project for you and charge BWP for the full cost. You pay nothing. As another example, let's say that the lighting retrofit project costs $2,100. If you ask that this project be installed, BWP would be billed $2,000 and your organization would be billed $100 by RHA.
Q. How do I sign up?
BWP can serve about 200 Burbank businesses annually with Business Bucks. We will help any eligible customer on a first come, first served basis. To find out if your organization is eligible to participate, simply call RHA at 1-877-290-2590.
