Conservation and the efficient use of important resources like water and electricity should be a way of life. It should also be a painless experience. Here at Burbank Water and Power, our aim is to help make conservation easy for Burbank's residents and businesses. How are we accomplishing this? First, we have a Conservation Services group that is available to help. This is a small group, but full of great information to share. BWP also has a multitude of brochures and pamphlets free to anyone who walks through our doors. You can even download these directly from our website. We have information on how to save water and electricity; how to landscape your garden with water use in mind; what to do to make your refrigerator more efficient; what to do before going on vacation to help reduce your bill; and so on.

BWP offers a free shade tree program and gives cash rebates on a wide variety of energy and water saving projects and appliances, from toilets to refrigerators to solar photovoltaic projects.

BWP is a community-owned utility serving our customers with water and electricity. If you have any suggestions for programs we can offer or improvements we can make to our services, please email your comments to jmeyer@ci.burbank.ca.us. Thank you!

May

At least twice yearly, clean the condenser coils in your refrigerator. Also, check the doors and seals on your refrigerator’s doors to make sure that cold air is not escaping. Replace seals when needed and your refrigerator will run more efficiently. Refrigerator temperatures should be set between 37% to 42% Fahrenheit. Your freezer should be set between 0% to 5% Fahrenheit.
