Business Toilet Rebate Program

ULTRA LOW FLUSH AND DUAL FLUSH TOILETS

Ultra Low Flush Toilets (ULFTs) use 1.6 gallons of water per flush. Older toilets use between 3.5 and 7 gallons of water per flush. Compared to high water using toilets, each ULFT saves about 35 gallons of water daily. This amounts to 12,500 gallons of water saved yearly by just changing out a high water-use toilet. Reduced water use means ULFTs cost less to operate. In fact, most pay back for themselves in water cost savings within a few years.

Another type of water-efficient toilet is now available. It's called a Dual Flush toilet. Instead of just one flushing option, Dual Flush toilets offer two. One flush option is the 1.6 gallon flush offered by standard ultra low flush toilets. The second flush option uses less than a gallon -- 0.8 gallon to be precise! Users can determine which flow level best meets their need with each flush. Dual Flush toilets offer even higher water savings than standard ULFTs.

To encourage Burbank residents and businesses to make the move to low-water using toilets, BWP offers cash rebates. BWP will pay up to $60 to Burbank's residential and commercial customers who replace older toilets with standard ULFTs. The rebate amount jumps to $80 for older non-ULFT toilets being replaced by Dual Flush toilets. We also offer $20 rebates for Dual Flush toilets replacing standard ULFTs.

Burbank residents can receive up to three rebates per dwelling unit. BWP will pay the cost of the ULFT or Dual Flush toilet OR the appropriate rebate amount ($20, $60 or $80; see the above paragraph), whichever is lower. There is no limit on the number of rebates commercial and industrial customers can receive for low-water using toilet retrofits.

New construction and installations requiring a building permit are not eligible for BWP low flush rebates. Replacement of an existing ULFT with a new ULFT is also ineligible for rebate.

How the Rebate Program Works

1. When you purchase a ULFT or Dual Flush toilet, save your dated receipt. The receipt must show:

  • Manufacturer's Name
  • Model Name or Number
  • Cost of Item(s) Qualified for Rebate. Installation of the toilet is NOT eligible for rebate.

2. After the ULFT or Dual Flush toilet is installed, download the UFLT rebate application by clicking here.

3. Complete the application, attach a copy of your proof of purchase and mail it back to us at:

BWP Toilet Rebate
Conservation Services
164 W. Magnolia Blvd.
Burbank, CA 91502

4. After we receive and review your application, BWP may call to schedule an inspection of the toilet(s). We randomly inspect all rebate requests and your application may be subject to such inspection.

You may want to use the City of Burbank's Bulky Item Pickup Service to dispose of your old toilet. Simply call 818-238-3805 for a 24-hour recording on how to use this service. The City will gladly recycle your old toilet into paving material instead of filling up our landfill!
