Your City of Burbank Bill Just Got Better!
In response to customer requests, we have refined the format of the City’s municipal services bill to make it easier to read and use. To guide you through the changes, we’ve placed numbers in several key areas on the bill. These numbers correspond to explanations that follow the bill. - City of Burbank municipal services account number. If you take advantage of home or online banking, please review your account information and verify your account number is correct
- Summary of charges due. Note: the “bill due” date is for current charges only; any unpaid past due balance is due immediately and subject to a 1.5% late fee.
- Meter reading summary information for all meters located on your premises. You will notice an A or an E after the current read. This indicates an actual (A) or estimated (E) read.
- Electric meter rate and a current phone number you can call if you have any questions regarding your electric service.
- History of your electric usage. It compares this month’s usage to the same month from last year, along with the daily averages for both.
- How your electric rates are calculated. BWP’s residential electric rate currently has three tiers. The first tier includes any electric usage up to 250 kilowatt-hours (kWh). Each kWh falling into this tier is billed at $0.10304 per kWh. The second tier is for kWh falling in the 251-750 range, each billed at $0.13712. The last tier, billed at $0.15640 per kWh, is for any kWh over 750 used during the billing period. Electric rates will increase on January 1, 2010.
- Other charges associated with your electric service. These charges and their explanations are as follows:
- Service Charge – A monthly charge to ensure BWP’s continuing ability to meet customer demand.
- Public Benefits Charge – A state mandated charge based on total electric charges to support energy efficiency and renewable energy.
- State Energy Surcharge – A special assessment, based on energy usage, required by the state to fund alternative energy research.
- Street Lighting Surcharge – A charge based on total electric charges to support city streetlights.
- Utility User’s Tax – A city tax based on total electric charges.
- Water meter rate and a current phone number you can call if you have any questions regarding your water service.
- History of your water usage. It compares this month’s usage to the same month from last year in HCF (hundred cubic feet) and gallons. The daily averages in HCF and gallons are provided as well.
- How your water rates are calculated. BWP’s single family residential water rate currently has three tiers. The first tier includes any water usage up to 15 HCF (hundred cubic feet). Each HCF falling into this tier is billed at $1.971 per HCF. The second tier is for HCF falling in the 16-30 range, each billed at $2.151. The last tier, billed at $2.331 per HCF, is for any HCF over 30 used during the billing period. In addition to showing your breakdown of water costs, this section of your bill also lists your water service charge.
Top^ - Delta Water Supply Surcharge - A cost of water supply due to environmental problems in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta.
- Denotes the Public Works section and current phone number to call if you have any questions regarding your Public Works charges and services. Public Works provides waste management, sewer, bulky-item pick-up, and recycling services.
- Days of service for Public Works charges.
- Public Works charges. These charges can vary monthly since they are billed based on days of service.
- All other fees and adjustments with a phone number to call for further information. This can include, but is not limited to, deposits, any late fees, Green Energy Champion charges or Project Share donations.
- This area is used for two different purposes; Project Share, which gives you the opportunity to give back to the community every month, or this section will advise you of any past due balances. Past due balances will always be due immediately. Please call (818) 238-3700 for further information.
- When paying your charges in full, there is no need to fill in this area. However, if you are paying an amount different than the Amount Due listed on your bill stub, please write in the amount you are paying.
- Account holder’s name and billing address - BWP has added the co-applicant’s name. Please call us today at (818) 238-3700 to update your roommate or spousal information!
