What to Expect From Service
Step One:
Select a contractor that has been certified to participate in the program. Please have your BWP Account Number found on your bill. Click here for a list of contractors.
Step Two:
Your technician will measure the system performance of your air conditioning system. These measurements are then phoned-in to the CheckMe!® center, where they are computer analyzed and precise information on refrigerant and airflow is immediately reported back to the technician at your home. Phoning into the CheckMe!® center only takes two to three minutes.
Each contractor may charge a different amount for this initial CheckMe!® efficiency test.
Step Three:
If there are any adjustments or repairs needed, your technician will present you with a cost estimate and once approved, make any necessary repairs and adjustments to your system. These adjustments may help extend the life of your equipment and ensure that your system is running as efficiently as possible.
Each contractor receives the same incentive amount from Burbank Water and Power but may charge you an additional fee for their service. The incentive amounts paid to the contractor by Burbank Water and Power are:
Clean Condenser Coil: $45
Dirty coils reduce the system's ability to cool your home and cause the system to run longer, increasing energy costs and reduce the life of the equipment.
Adjust Refrigerant Charge and/or Adjust Blower Components: $65.00
Too much or too little refrigerant will make your system less efficient increasing energy costs and reducing the life of the equipment. Cleaning and adjusting blower components to provide proper system airflow will provide greater comfort levels. Airflow problems can reduce your system's efficiency by up to 15 percent.
Step Four:
Your technician will re-measure the system performance to confirm whether the adjustments were successful and for any additional action that may be needed.
Step Five:
For your records, you’ll receive a CheckMe!® Certificate in the mail, with detailed information on your test results, directly from Proctor Engineering. Note: Contractors may charge customers for their services to perform the diagnostic testing. Burbank Water and Power funds the cost for the use of the CheckMe!® diagnostic system and certain repairs. Final costs of repairs or adjustments are the responsibility of the customer. Costs to customer may vary depending on the services rendered. Incentives provided by BWP will be listed on the contractor’s invoice. Customers are not obligated to implement any of the recommended repairs or adjustments.
